What I worry about if I lose

Millionaires tax

So much is wrong with this bill. First, it violates the state constitution. Once an income tax is legally allowed to stand, the threshold will only get lower and lower. I am for taxing the rich, but we need firm and non-negotiable terms to protect those making less than 1 million. Without protection, the architect of the Millionaires tax is already trying to find a way to make the tax threshold lower. We cannot afford this; we cannot allow this to stand.

Car Tabs

Car tabs fees put a large burden on the poor. The light rail system was a much-needed addition but is being paid for only by 2 counties. Public transit upgrades need to be a priority to modernize a growing state. But without expanding the transit cost to all counties, The car tab fee will need to be renewed and raised to help pay for over run on cost. We need to expand this fee state wide and use those funds to help public transit state wide.

Religions state

With the growing power of The Heritage Foundation, Christian Nationalism is a growing fear. You should be allowed to practice the religion you want. But we need to keep the separation of church and state.  Allowing a religious group to control policy will punish those who need protection the most. Woman, Minorities and LGBTQ+. Policy needs to be driven by protection and quality of life.

Woman's rights

I am not as worried about woman's rights in Washinton as other states. But nevertheless, we need to protect woman. From bodily autonomy, to pay to personal protection. The state needs to ensure every woman is protected from harm. The laws are set up to protect men. Those need to change. NO woman should live in fear of a man, no woman should think the justice department will not help them.

Data centers

No data center will be built in Washington if I am elected. They are a drain on natural resources. From increasing temperatures, freshwater usage, to the massive amount of energy it takes to run one. The cons far out weight the pros. The only people who benefit are the tech CEOs while the losers are the customers of nearby cities and the environment.

Education gap

With funding for public schools shrinking, class sizes growing, the need for help is now. NO kid should leave elementary school without a basic ability to read, write and do math. More help is needed in the K-6 to avoid leaving the kids that need help behind. Once a kid leaves elementary school, the ability to help them shrinks. Schools that show lower scores on standardized test generally receive less funding, but are the ones crying out for help with none to come. We need to help those struggling at the beginning, so we don't end up with those to far gone to reach.
